We would like to thank each and every one of you who took part in Bake for Bobath this March. So far, we have raised an incredible £8,000, with money still coming in!
Up and down the country, people have been getting their bake on and whipping up a huge variety of tasty treats to help us raise some dough for children in Wales who have cerebral palsy.
From Welsh cake sales held at school, family coffee mornings, office bake offs and community cake sales, we have loved seeing and hearing all about your Bake for Bobath events!
Cerebral palsy is one of the most common disabilities in children and affects an estimated 1,800 children in Wales. The charity not only supports the children but gives families advice and help if they need it.
Natasha Coombes, Mum to Alexia who attends the Centre got involved in Bake for Bobath in order to raise money for the charity which helps her daughter. Natasha, with the help of her family and local community held an event in Ystradgynlais and raised an incredible £1,646. “For a long time I had wondered what I could do to raise money and give something back to Bobath. As soon as I found out about Bake for Bobath I knew this was something I could do. I had so much support from people who attended the event and I would encourage anyone to take part in Bake for Bobath. I’m already looking forward to making this an annual event!”
Last year, the charity raised £1.2m, with 76% of donations coming from the public. Therefore getting people involved in a campaign like this is really important.
Emily Anthony, Events Co-Ordinator at Bobath Wales, would like to thank all those who got involved with the campaign. “The amount raised over the past month is incredible. Without amazing supporters like this, Bake for Bobath simply wouldn’t happen. We’ve loved seeing and sharing all the great cake-off photographs. It just goes to show that anyone can get involved and put the fun back into fundraising!”
