What is the Therapy Assistants Course?

This is a two day Introductory Course aimed at introducing Therapy Assistants to the Bobath Concept

and helping them to work more effectively  with children with cerebral palsy.

 

Who is the course for?

The course is suitable for Therapy Assistants (Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech and

Language Therapy) who have more than one year’s experience of working with children with cerebral palsy.

 

Aim:  To broaden the Therapy Assistant’s understanding of the Bobath Concept and its                  application to children with cerebral palsy.

 

Objectives:

- To familiarise participants with the Bobath approach to management of children with cerebral palsy.

- To review the different types of cerebral palsy & explain how their atypical muscle tone, postures and movement patterns could affect their function.

- To demonstrate Bobath principles of treatment to influence how children with different types of Cerebral Palsy perform activities (e.g. walk, play. Communicate, eat & drink).
