Specialists in Cerebral Palsy

Birthday Celebrations to Remember

A Touch of Silver Ball

On Friday night 9th June the charity celebrated its 25th Anniversary with a fundraising event to remember when 300 guests joined us for our ‘A Touch of Silver’ Ball at the prestigious City Hall Cardiff.

The evening began with a champagne reception kindly sponsored by Slater and Gordon Lawyers who also attended the event. An impressive giant ice sculpture set the scene, marking 25 years of providing specialist Bobath therapy to children in Wales who have cerebral palsy. This was kindly sponsored by our Chair of Trustees Mr Frank Holmes & his wife Rhian.

We are incredibly grateful to our main sponsors for the event Miller Argent and The Jane Hodge Foundation along with those companies who sponsored elements of the Ball including PG Insurance, Flamingo Candles, KK Solutions as well as everyone who donated raffle and auction prizes. Our appreciation also to Barclays Bank for match funding the raffles and auction.

Following a welcome by our Head of Fundraising and Retail, Gail Griffiths and speeches from Centre Director, Jenny Carroll and Chair, Frank Holmes presentations were made to founder parents Glenys Evans, Paul Lubas, Chris Loyn and John and Liz Weaver. It was their vision, dedication and hard work that founded the charity in 1992.  Our appreciation also to journalist and BBC sports presenter Frances Donovan who hosted the evening.

Guests enjoyed a three-course meal whilst being treated to a plethora of entertainment from the The Angel School of Dance, singer Llinos Haf Jones, classical guitarist Timothy Tate and Only Men Aloud singer Craig Yates.

To end our ‘A Touch of Silver’ Ball on a high The Dave Barry Big Band ensured everyone was on the dancefloor!

We would like to thank everyone involved in making our 25th-anniversary celebrations such a success. From our corporate sponsors, volunteers, wonderful entertainers, sound team, City Hall, and of course wonderful supporters – without you events like this would not be possible and we absolutely loved spending the evening with you all.

The fun doesn’t stop there for us! We have plenty of fundraising events coming up to raise the £1.3m that we need to raise each year to keep the Centre open.
